Job Classification: Entry Level Professional or Professional (DOE)



The person in this position will work with almond growers, huller/shellers, and handlers, to inform them of marketing order requirements and assist them in the understanding of, and compliance with, ABC initiatives including the Pasteurization Program, Inedible Program, Pre-Export Checks Program (PEC), and general Food Safety requirements.  


This is a position that is distinguished by its role in ensuring industry compliance and understanding of almond food quality & safety and marketing order requirements.  This position requires a high degree of inter-personal skills, self-motivation, and organizational skills and involves on-site inspection activities, industry visits, and training.





Knowledge of:

  • Common agricultural systems and handling practices of nut or related crop production, processing and shipment;  
  • Quality Assurance and food safety principles;   
  • Processing and/or manufacturing type equipment, controls and documentation;  


Skill in:

  • Preparing professional reports, and documentation; 
  • Communicating on issues across all audience levels;
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work; sensitivity to and ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Written and verbal communication through newsletters, fact sheets, presentations, etc.;
  • Computer programs such as Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. 



  • Must possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record; 
  • Extensive vehicle travel within the State of California.  


ILLUSTRATIVE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A typical way to obtain the above knowledge and skill is a combination of education and experience equivalent to:


BA/BS degree in Agricultural Sciences, Biological Sciences, Food Science, or related area with 1-5 years relevant work experience.
