Position Purpose
Manage daily regulatory activities related to product development such as identification, interpretation and implementation of all applicable federal, state and local regulations. These include but are not limited to standards of identity, package label requirements, claims identification and validation, preparation and submission of USDA label approval requests and records preparation and retention to comply with regulatory requirements. These activities include oversight and review of regulatory activities for in house developed and manufactured products and regulatory activities conducted by contract manufacturers of consumer brands products. This position is critical to insuring regulatory compliance and avoidance of the product retrievals and recalls that can result from noncompliance to product and package regulations.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Represent regulatory on cross functional project teams, making regulatory decisions as required.
  • Insure all consumer brands packaging is in compliance with federal, state and local regulations. This involves daily interactions with marketing, graphic design, sourcing and outside design agencies to insure that all existing, new and revised packaging graphics and placements are in compliance with labeling regulations. This can include writing label copy and will include proofing artwork. This interaction is required from the beginning of the design process to review of final art work prior to package production
  • Support commercialization process and ensure timely execution of regulatory related tasks– including co-packer and self-manufactured product label copy review, maintenance of Checklists, Consumer Brands Style Guide and SOPs.
  • Facilitate content management for regulatory systems (Genesis, Repositrak, Smart Label), ensuring accurate information and process are maintained in the systems.

Qualifications: 

  • Formal course work or seminars on Food Regulations and Over The Counter Drug Regulations
  • College degree a plus
  • Minimum 3 years of documents and data management.
  • Strong personnel and project management skills. 
  • Management background is critical to this position as the incumbent will be required to manage all daily activities associated with this role. 
  • The incumbent will be required to work with product development on formulation requirements, marketing and graphics design personnel on package graphics.

General Summary

The Quality Control and Assurance Assistant is responsible for management and improvement of overall quality assurance and food safety programs at Patagonia Provisions.  This highly detail focused role will organize incoming information and customer feedback associated with product quality and synthesize that information into actions aimed at improving product quality and consistency. Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain documentation on all ingredients (Spec Sheets, COA, Organic and Kosher certifications, etc.)
  • Maintaining certifications, audit paperwork, assisting with submitting documentation to certifying bodies (Non- GMO, Kosher, etc.)

  • Maintain recall readiness and improve procedures associated with potential recall scenarios. Lead regular mock recall exercises.  
  • Provide regular updates and monthly reports of product quality and key performance indicators. 

 

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of HACCP principles and FSMA rules, trainings and certification a plus
  • Preferably 2-5 years of experience in the Food & Beverage industry in quality control or food safety.
  • Robust attention to details and highly organized record keeping and process improvement. 
  • Proven track record of increasing responsibility, strong relationship management and ability to focus on large strategic priorities while maintaining focus on the details.    
  • Able to effectively prioritize workload and work independently in a startup environment.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality and Regulatory team is responsible for overseeing safety and quality standards, as well as compliance with food and supplements regulations.  The Regulatory Compliance Manager reports to the Director of Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance and is responsible for regulatory oversight and all documentation associated with our full line of sports nutrition products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partners with Director of Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance to ensure compliance of all GU products in an ever-changing regulatory environment
  • Researches and interprets regulations to guide policies and programs relating to ingredients, products, supply chain, and manufacturing facilities
  • Establishes set standards and specifications for processes and products as it relates to quality and safety parameters

    • Raw Materials

  • Reviews and approves labels for all new and/or updated products as well as product messaging relating to usage instructions, nutrition information and product claims
  • Understands key ingredients and how they are regulated both independently and when combined in products; provides analysis, interpretation, and recommendations accordingly
  • Represents GU and its interests to regulatory bodies and customers
  • Performs internal audits on current practices to ensure compliance is maintained, gaps are identified, and continuous improvements are made
  • Ensures success, timely completion, and cost containment of regulatory projects (which may involve consultants)

About the Role: 
We’re looking for an experienced food safety professional to work closely with Good Eggs to ensure our food hubs and production facilities are in compliance with all relevant regulations on an ongoing basis.  The Food Safety Manager will have two primary areas of responsibility:
  1. Auditing, building, and implementing all aspects of Good Eggs’ Food Safety Program. This person will work with Operations and Kitchen staff at all facilities to ensure that food safety programs are current and being followed by all staff. POSITION PURPOSE: 
This position is responsible for assuring vendor compliance with company food safety and quality standards. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

  • Conduct site audit and assessment of supplier programs to ensure programs are in place and effectively managed (preventive controls for food safety, environmental monitoring programs, allergen controls and effective sanitation)
  • Coordinate product recalls and withdrawals with suppliers and serve as department expert for crisis management as it relates to product safety
  • Manage Supplier Quality Improvement Program and interface with suppliers to improve product quality, minimize customer complaints and prevent reoccurring issues
  • Utilize skills and knowledge to ensure supplier Food Safety, Quality and Process Control issues are successfully resolved, including effective use of Root Cause Analyses and Corrective and Preventative Action tools
  • Support sales and business with key supplier meetings, site audits and ensure follow up by supplier on any required quality/food safety action items. Ensure the manufacturing sites can deliver on the expectations set forth in supplier agreement, product formulations and finished good specifications. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Education Level:

Experience Level:

6 years Quality Management experience in a variety of food and/or general merchandise/health, beauty, cosmetic manufacturing and processing environments

Skills and Experiences:

  • Ability to analyze process capability data to assure compliance with specifications.  Experience utilizing Process Improvement methods such as:  SPC, DMAIC, 8D, Ishikawa, Six Sigma
  • Working knowledge of AQL sampling plans in a manufacturing setting is preferred
  • Supplier quality management, including audit experience, is required
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety, product quality programs, preventive QC methods, HACCP/PCQI certified, GMP’s, environmental pathogen monitoring, allergen control and manufacturing process controls
  • 2 years Quality Auditing experience preferred
  • GFSI (BRC, SQF, ISO 22,000, IFS, PrimusGFS) ASQ, or equivalent sector audit certification
