CJ America's Taste & Nutrition division is seeking a motivated and results-driven Western Region Business Development & Account Manager to lead sales activities across the food ingredient and nutrition sectors in the assigned territory in North America.

This role is responsible for representing CJ America Bio to assigned customers, focusing on delivering value through our portfolio of food ingredients. Reporting to the Sales Director of Taste and Nutrition Sales, the Business Development & Account Manager will play a critical role in building and nurturing customer relationships, identifying commercial opportunities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive growth.

Success in this position requires a strong technical understanding of the food industry, excellent communication and analytical skills, and a team-oriented mindset to achieve shared business objectives.

Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Build, manage, and maintain strong relationships with the assigned food industry customer base, industry influencers, and strategic partners.
  • Develop and implement key account strategies to drive growth, maintain business, and maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Plan and forecast sales upon contract and territory business targets with strategic action plans.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from initial technical consultation and sampling to commercial launch and post-sales support.
  • Prepare, present, and negotiate commercial proposals, offers, and supply agreements.
  • Resolve customer complaints or issues effectively while protecting company assets and interests.
  • Differentiate CJ by effectively communicating its value across multiple levels and departments within customer organizations, including purchasing, R&D/nutrition, supply chain, and operations.
  • Communicate customer insights, developments, and company positioning to internal stakeholders as directed.
  • Coordinate sales activities and foster collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams, including but not limited to marketing, supply chain, and technical service.
  • Effectively utilize internal tools and support to contribute to a culture of teamwork.
  • Meet or exceed revenue budgets and growth targets through focused and strong tactical execution.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on food industry market trends, competitor activities, and developments to adjust sales tactics.
  • Identify, plan, and manage participation in key industry trade shows and sales exhibits to represent the company within the territory.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned.

 

Job Qualifications, Education, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college in Business, Food Science, Nutrition, or Chemistry required.
  • 5+ years of sales experience in the food and nutrition ingredient space is required.
  • Direct experience selling to Brands, CMO's, and Food & Beverage manufacturers.
  • Strong understanding of the sales process and pipeline management.
  • Travel: up to 50% travel may be required for this position.  This includes overnight travel and travel outside the assigned regional sales area to visit customers and develop new potential clients.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage across multiple levels and departments in complex organizations.
  • Effective communicator with strong verbal, written, and technical presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Salesforce (or CRM).
  • Skilled in problem-solving and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Self-motivated to explore untapped market segments in the North American region.
  • An established network within the R&D and Procurement departments of CPG companies and food manufacturers.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Represent the company with the highest level of professionalism, integrity, and corporate alignment at all external events and customer interactions.

SUMMARY: Provides effective and functional technical leadership for customized formulations, product innovations, and product optimization projects. Leads product and process development from ideation/pre-formulation through commercialization. Leverages technical insights and product development skills to develop and commercialize new products for current and potential customers. Utilizes standard best practices and procedures in conjunction with hands on formulating, scale up and commercialization support. Close partnership with Sales, customers, and crossfunctional departments to accomplish company and personal goals.
