Membership

The Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) is a vibrant community that has been shaping the discourse on food science and technology for more than 70 years. Individuals who are active in any aspect of the food profession and are interested in supporting IFT’s objectives are invited to join our organization.

Membership in IFT is handled by the National IFT office. Realizing that one size does not fit all, IFT has designed membership options to provide you with the resources, programs, services, and networking opportunities you need at different phases of your career. Our Northern California section (NCIFT) has additional section dues that are added to price of membership during registration. These dues help our section put on local networking events, fund student scholarships, and help advance the science of food in Northern California. All members of NCIFT also receive copies of our quarterly Hornblower magazine.

Your IFT Membership dues are a solid investment in your career, both now and in the future. No other organization has IFT’s ability to advance the science of food or to advance the careers of professionals like you.

Northern California Section of IFT executive committee have nominated the following members for their outstanding service to the section. Their names will be displayed in the Hall of Honor at IFT FIRST July 2022.


Outstanding Section Volunteer Award: Mr. Charlwit Kulchaiyawat

Charlwit has been volunteering with NCIFT since 2016 and been responsible for Scholarship and Grant Committee for the past 3 years. His professionalism, excellent teamwork and behind the scenes effort in managing the Grant and Scholarship committee is exceptional and outstanding. His passion is serving the students and giving back. He says: ” Similar to how the local Iowa Section IFT had supported me during my student days.” Having him responsible for a task, means nothing will be amiss. He will do what is needed, when is needed to be done and reach out to whom he must reach out to make sure the work is completed, and all in a humble way. We would like to thank him for his dedication and outstanding work.


Section Service Award: Ms. Erin Evers

In addition to serving as Membership Secretary and New Professional Development Chair for the past two years, Erin has been volunteering with NCIFT for more than 10 years. She has started the New Professionals Group in Northern California Section in 2013 and have been building the group ever since. You can see her in most events either as participant or organizer. For new volunteer leaders and members, she is the go-to person, answering their questions, providing support and guidance. Erin is passionate about connecting young food scientists with their peers and provide resources they need to excel. She always available to help in any way she can. We would like to thank her for her years of dedication, hard work and constant service.
