Meeting Minutes June 23, 2021

3:30 PM: Called to Order

• Introduction of new board members
• Section Leadership roster shared and new leadership roles discussed
• The board discussed the need to fill some open positions. Three leaders have moved from the area, thus need replacing. In addition, there was no one on the ballot for President Elect, thus the Board needs to fill that position. Bruce Ferree presented a slate of volunteers who have expressed interest in these open positions. A motion was made by Parastoo, seconded by Craig. Bruce noted that a quorum was present as required by our ByLaws. There has been unanimous acceptance of the changes proposed. The motion has been passed. New leaders in the following positions were announced. President Elect – Parastoo, Y., President Elect – Ellice O, Directors at Large – term expiring 2022, Mathew P.; Term expiring 2023, Christopher H.; term expiring 2024, WanChin L.; Secretary (Elected for term 2021-2021 but agreed to start immediately), Gabriela S. In addition, newly elected Directors were noted: Term expiring 2024, John F, Victor H

FINANCIAL REPORT – TERRI 

• June 2021 – End of fiscal year update: Bottom line is NCIFT is financially sound. There was discussion on how to use monies for more scholarships

HORNBLOWER – CAROL

• Vote of digital and hardcopy preference to be taken in the next meeting. Carol will be working with Jaime and another potential new editor to take over as Hornblower Editor. Many thanks to Carol for her long service to NCIFT as Hornblower Editor

AWARDS/SCHOLARSHIPS

• $500 scholarship were approved at the last Board meeting towards National IFT to benefit students who will attend F. I.R.S.T. Local universities were notified so that students would be informed and use these scholarship dollars

SECTION EVENTS

• Suppliers’ Night Summary sheet shared with team. ~$2,000 profit from the virtual event. Many exhibitors have asked NCIFT to hold their payments for use in the 2022 event. Dates and sites are reserved for the 2022 event.
• Discussion ensued about starting to plan the 2021-2022 event schedule including:
  • Holiday party (Indoor/Outdoor/Hybrid) proposed for member engagement
  • Proposed networking events in Sacramento, Modesto, Bay area, SF meeting, SJSU
  • Propose ideas to Ellice and Parastoo as they are planning events for the next year
